sabaai sabaai ...
wow..it's already been more than a week that Im in this lovely place...
the weekend was nice.. most of the children attend school on weekdays, so weekend for them's a good rest. they hang out here at home, make batiks, watch dvds ( we did Polar Express on sat..though I ve no idea wat it was about since the movie was in thai...) , play games like volley, badminton, catching ( i miss that...was my fav in pri. sch!) soccer...all here at Ban Than Nam Chai..
well, yest ( sunday) , the children had a mini excursion to the nearby beach to meditate and play. din get to go though, had to stay behind to look after the place. =)
oh yea, made another 4 friends...Britney, Stephanie and her 2 children..n they are from Canada! Stef n her sweeties aint new here though, theyve helped out here b4 a yr or 2 ago. Well, unlike me who stay in the orhpanage, they rent a litttle house juz across the street. n they r gonna be here for 4 months! cool huh! wish I can afford to.. =P
oh yea, went to the mkt today.. P. Thet brought us ( me n our 4 Canadians friends) to their 'pasar malam' which r usually held once a week ( kinda reminded me of my KL days though..where I always go jalan jalan.. pretty similar.. held once a week..n they sell everything from clothes to food..).
Got myself a pair of shorts...decided not to buy much since I might be low on cash soon.. sobz.
It's funny how I was reaaaally excited bout going to the mkt..juz anywhere ... cos this plc is kinda out-of-town type.... no hypermarts around ( nearest is a 2hour drive in Phuket town) .. n no shopping centres AT ALL (nearest is once again a 2-3hour drive ..in Patong or Phuket...)
7-11s are everywhere..n they are my 'heaven' ..and Im seriously amused by the number of mom-n-pop stores (a.k.a mamak stores) around here.
u can sell stuff at your balcony..n make a biz out of it..
oh yea, I SO LOVE the tau huay here.. u know the ones in spore are usually the tau huay n syrup or with tau huay milk. the ones here.. the syrup used is ginger soup.. (in case u dunno...I LOVE GINGER! Im so sure my parents esp my dad will love it too... u hear me dad?)
maybe I ll try take a pic of it next time. the soup is blackish..gingerish..with some tau huay ..it's kinda sweet though. then again almost everything is super sweet here lo. esp. the desserts n the beverages.. their teh-o can kill your tastebuds man...
....i got to admit..it's been only one week..but im missing my swims.....urrgh.. so sure i cant swim more than 10 laps by the time i return.. *gasps* haa.
how's everyone doing back home? do drop a msg on the tag board ya =)
with metta,
MeOw
btw: sabaai means well or happy...
