sawat dee pee mai (happy new year!)

Day 26,27,28

Happy New Year to all dearies!
celebrated new year's eve-new year @ Koh Phi Phi..
was fun, lotsa fireworks (seriously, i realise thai like fireworks a lot man.. i see it almost everyday since 23rd dec..but the prob is they always come @ random.. like burst of 2-3 mins .. then another burst 15mins later...)
my friend's bar was cool, good music n crazy fun ppl. =)

been to PhiPhi island before but it was a day trip a few years ago.. it's still pretty much the same except lotsa buildings are up now (many destroyed by the tsunami..)..
really small town.. (i finished exploring the "town" area within an hour...) n everyone knows everyone...
lotsa dive shops.. restuarants n EXPENSIVE accomodation.. im not kidding.
paid 500baht for a room (cheapest i could find..the average for a decent cheap was 100baht n more) in town.. i could get an air con/private bath n tv for 500-600 baht..
but.. my room on PP was a really small "wooden attap room"..with a bed, fan n that's it. common toilet for all to share..cold shower..
the walls n floors are wooden and REALLY thin. you can practically hear people walking up and down.. AND...some things you don't really wanna hear... or "sounds" i mean.

definitely quite an interesting place..since the town is so small, you sorta keep seeing the same people after a while. i actually felt kinda claustraphobic after 2 hours on PP. haa.
and i guess i felt a little strange being one the VERY FEW asians on the island. honestly.. the population i think was prob 80% caucasians and 20 % thais/asians.

i just keep seeing caucasians everywhere i go.. the thais are mainly the working staff... and it's really touristy.. when i spoke thai to the thais, they replied in english.. ha.
honestly, i don't feel the warmth from the ppl as compared to other parts of Thailand.. it's just so geared towards making money off caucasian tourists at times..

i realised it's quite a scandalous place too. *laugh* yea. but it's not the "Patong" type of scandalous.. it's different. ppl from different countries meet here... n .. *gossips*
most of the tourists are quite young too.. the babes will prob be avg 25 years old..n the dudes.. maybe about 28. it just reminds me of the show "Temptation Island".. hah.

money's running out, so i had to leave the island as soon.. everything on PP is more exp. kinda like a PP tax you have to pay.. eg. drink are usually 15baht a can in thailand. even in 7-11. but there..it's 20 baht. even standardised stuff like a loaf of bread etc. there's an extra 5-10baht on it. man. no wonder the thais don't go there.

so.. after the good new year countdown party, im back in phuket.. @ patong again! *laugh*

might be heading to Penang soon to do the boring visa stuff. i hope it will go smoothly.

need to catch up on sleep. couldn sleep past 2 nights cos of the noise.. (everyone's almost always drunk on PP).they sell alcohol in BUCKETS...

love love.
sabaai dee.
