motherly daddies.

fell a little sick today, so din get to "knock on doors". =)
dropped by Cold Rock to pass some stuff to friends..missed the place n peepz.

anyhow.. was reading Time (last week edition) and found an article really interesting. It's under the Life section, about "Modern" Fathers... debating the old notions of masculinity..
(quote)
"Many dads are challenging old definitions of manliness. Masculinity has traditionally all been associated with work....competition..power, prestige, dominance over women, restrictive emotionally..... study finds that those who dont cleave to the old archetype are happier. ...basically..masculinity is bad for you... "

isn't it interesting.. i must say i agree with that.. yea it's not new to ppl who know me that im pretty much a feminist.. n someone who despise chauvinism..
but hey who really wants to live with a man who is always laughing at females who cant parallel park as well as them, making decisions for their girlfriends as if they dont have a mind of their own, moving their hands all over their girlfriends like an octopus..
girls, u like that? 'respect for the ladies' probably never exist in their dictionaries.

on the other hand... guys who respect their girlfriends, go emo when they should, dont act like they "cant be bothered" when they really are upset, expressive and not work nor money oriented...that I find appealing. sexy. attractive.
and i m pretty sure most girls will agree.

im sure if u do a little ppl-watch...u really get to see how ppl behave n it's amazing how different everyone can be... sometimes in Cold Rock... it's very sweet to see some fathers attend to their children with care n lovingness (the way it is always associated with being 'motherly') some men are really good with children.. not just in terms of fooling around, playing..but to the extent of cleaning up for them.. sweeet.

again, quoting from the article...
"it's not considered wimpy or gay to hug your daughter...that's something we can all embrace.."
n....guys who can do laundry, helps with housework n not full of his "manliness".....that's hot! =)

with metta.
